About FOWS

FOWS is a community volunteer group founded in February 2007 to campaign for better services and facilites at Walkden station. We also work to improve the station environment through gardening schemes, litter collections and station cleaning.

Our funding comes from charitable grants from bodies such as Salford City Council and Northern Rail. We have good relations with Northern Rail and are in constant communication about ways to improve the lot of Walkden's ever-growing passenger numbers.

We have a formal constitution (download FOWS Constitution as a PDF), an elected panel of officers, and a bank account. Membership is open to all users of the station and costs just £1 per year.
