What is FOWS ?

The Friends of Walkden Station is a community volunteer group, founded in February 2007, that campaigns for improved facilities and services from Walkden station in Greater Manchester.

Walkden Station is 120 !

On Wednesday (July 2nd) the 120th Anniversary of the first ever passenger service from Walkden station was celebrated by FOWS with a cake, champagne and raffle held in the Booking Hall. 120 goodie bags were distributed to bemused commuters, containing a leaflet about the anniversary, a snack and some goodies donated by Northern Rail.

FOWS would like to thank ACoRP and Northern Rail for helping towards the funding of this celebration, and British Transport Police for their enthusiastic participation.
